Ascension has a number of groups that meet for social, outreach, spiritual or educational activities. Connecting with a group can make a big church feel intimate, and can provide you with an opportunity to make friends and support one another.
Wednesday Morning Study Group
Read a book, study the Bible, ask honest questions with this intergenerational group, every Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
A menâ€™s softball team plays in the church league in late spring into summer on Tuesday nights. Contact Andrew Duncan.
Ascensionâ€™sÂ Adventure Group
Organizes regular hikes at various levels of difficulty. Check the Events calendar for upcoming outings.
Ascension is blessed with a fine choir of over 20 singers, the Ascension Choir, an all-volunteer groups of adults. The Ascension Choir practices each Thursday evening during the program year (September through early June) from 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and sings at the 9:00 a.m. service.
Ascension periodically forms dinner groups for couples and individuals interested in socializing with other parishioners in small groups. Contact Lauren Kingsland for information.
Episcopal Seeking Seniors
Asbury Episcopalians meet for lunch and a chance to learn about a topic of interest on the fourth Thursday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the cafe of the Wallace Community RoomÂ at Asbury. Contact Javier OcampoÂ at 301-948-0122, ext. 12 for more information.
Education for Ministry Classes
Ascension offers this enlightening four-year course in theology and the Bible on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm. But itâ€™s more than a class, it builds a community through shared meals and prayer. Contact David Mitchell or Rebecca Smith-Kevern.
Cancer Support Group
