August was a busy month at Church of the Ascension. We had the backpack drive for Linkages to Learning at Summit Hall Elementary and our annual yard sale. I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU!! for all your efforts to make these two events successful. Thank you to all who brought backpacks and school supplies and/or donated funds to support the event. A special thank you to those who helped stuff the backpacks. We provided 54 backpacks and a lot of tissues, paper towels, sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer. The staff at Linkages to Learning were very grateful.
Thanks, so much to everyone who participated in the yard sale, bake sale, and car wash. I really appreciate all those who donated items to the yard sale. I am especially grateful to those who helped with the sorting and those who were there to help on the day of the sale. I also want to give a special thank you to Toni Babcock for all her work on the bake sale. Thanks to everyone who made the baked goods. There were a lot of really yummy items. Thank you to the people who staffed the bake sale table. Thank you very much to Fredis Diaz and his crew for all their hard work washing cars. Together we raised $2,534.20. While I am grateful for the money we made, my favorite part of the yard sale is getting to spend time with old friends and making new ones. Both events are great examples of the wonderful things that we can do for the Ascension community and the community at large when we work together. I look forward to many more opportunities to work together with members of my Ascension family.
